Lauren Labinger brings to Redwood a musical background rich in formal training and diverse performance. As a graduate from USC Thornton School of Music and an award winning vocalist in jazz, opera, acapella, Lauren might seem an unlikely fit for a pop vocal gig—she pulls it off effortlessly.

September 2008 – Redwood welcomes Lauren Labinger as one of its newest members. Following early rehearsals, Lauren set fire to Redwood shows during guest live appearances, as the band prepared for upcoming shows throughout the Bay Area.

Founding band members Kit Bragg and Roberto Hernandez have found a guide of sorts in Lauren, as she brings a superbly trained ear to rehearsal sessions and live performances. The haunting beauty that her voice spreads throughout Redwood performances has truly captured the attention of Bay Area live music fans. Kit says of Lauren, “What she brings to our live shows is fantastic. We feel really lucky to have found her, and have plans to feature her talent on our forthcoming album.” The edgy compliment that Lauren’s varied vocal styles and training bring to Redwood translates well in live performance. Meanwhile her sense of humor has shown her to be one of the boys. In Lauren, the band has found a great vocalist and musical influence, a fellow martini drinker, a lover of all furry creatures, a woman who knows shoes, and a great friend. The band has declared her a keeper and has adorned her with the nickname “Special Sauce!”
