Sonoma Chicken Coop Friday!

Posted in Uncategorized on October 28th, 2009 by admin

Hey, everyone. Kit here. Thought I’d update you on a few things. Number one, we will be in downtown Campbell Friday night for a gig at our regular spot at Sonoma Chicken Coop. Come on down, there’s no cover and it’s always a good crowd! Also, we’ve been recording and things are developing nicely. We are splitting our time between drum tracking and song development. Graham and his expert arrangement skills have taken my songs to a new level and I am very excited for the work our collaboration has produced. Stay tuned. The recording process will be long, but I promise a final product that will be great!

Smoke Tiki Has Got It Going On!

Well, I must say  our gig on Friday night was wonderful. Sure, we sounded good (cough, cough), but the gig itself was great! Tim and Jason have been working very hard to make Smoke fresh and exciting. Clearly, they’ve been successful, because they had a wonderful group of new patrons that hung all night and rocked with us! Thanks to Tim and Jason for keeping live music alive in the Bay Area! And of course big Redwood thanks to all our regular rockers!

Where Have All The Venues Gone?

Posted in Uncategorized on October 1st, 2009 by admin

We would like to take a minute to recognize the good people in this valley who are trying their hardest to keep local music alive in the south bay. Tom O’Hara and Chris Esparza have been promoting bands in this area for a good long time. Dan Doherty has long owned many a venue in the south bay and always makes the point to feature live music at all of his joints. Recently, Tim and Jason bought Smoke Tiki and are bringing live music back to downtown SJ one band and one evening at a time. Thanks to all those who support local live music.

Happy New Year from Redwood! We’re kicking-off 2009 at the Blue Rock Shoot in Saratoga, this Saturday night at 7:30. We’ve put together a special acoustic show that will feature Graham on upright bass and several songs that will make their way onto our upcoming album. Not to be missed! Look for other shows coming in January and February, including fundraisers to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Get the skinny from our gig calendar.

Redwood plays the final live show of 2008 this week at Sonoma Chicken Coop in Campbell. Founding member/drummer, Roberto (nicknamed Poppy, by bandmate Kit Bragg) says, “After this show we rehearse like mad for our upcoming recording sessions.” The band has booked shows for the New Year, including one that will reportedly showcase it’s original music.

11.06.08
The band has finally and officially kicked off rehearsals for upcoming recording sessions of its long awaited album. Early and informal sessions indicate that the band is pushing its new material into a slightly new direction. Members of the band have confirmed that the remainder of this year has been blocked off for these special rehearsals, with one final appearance booked for 2008.

10.01.08
Last week, the band opened rehearsal to a videographer from Brilliant Monkey for test shots, said to be part of a planned film about the band. Little is known about the project, though speculation is that it’s for a planned documentary for their forthcoming album.

09.14.08
Latest news reports that Graham Hitchcock and Lauren Labinger will be the new permanent members of Redwood. Both musicians attended USC and graduated with music degrees. Their collective past experience is impressive to say the least. The new line-up fully rounds out Redwood and according to a friend of the band, they sound like they’ve been playing together for years. Look for them at the October shows!

09.12.08
San Jose based Redwood is reportedly planning sessions for its next studio release, due out sometime in ‘09.

09.01.08
Following the departure of former bassist Jason Shafton, the boys in Redwood appear to have found a new member. Rumor has it that they’ve settled on a two-for-one package bassist and female backing vocalist.

08.15.08
Former Groove Camp bassist Nate Pease has signed on to fill in on bass for the remainder of this Summer and possibly into the fall, as Redwood searches for a permanent replacement for Jason Shafton who left in mid July.
