Happy New Year from Redwood! We’re kicking-off 2009 at the Blue Rock Shoot in Saratoga, this Saturday night at 7:30. We’ve put together a special acoustic show that will feature Graham on upright bass and several songs that will make their way onto our upcoming album. Not to be missed! Redwood plays the final live show of 2008 this week at Sonoma Chicken Coop in Campbell. Founding member/drummer, Roberto (nicknamed Poppy, by bandmate Kit Bragg) says, “After this show we rehearse like mad for our upcoming recording sessions.” The band has booked shows for the New Year, including one that will reportedly showcase it’s original music.

The band has finally and officially kicked off rehearsals for upcoming recording sessions of its long awaited album. Early and informal sessions indicate that the band is pushing its new material into a slightly new direction. Members of the band have confirmed that the remainder of this year has been blocked off for these special rehearsals, with one final appearance booked for 2008.

Last week, the band opened rehearsal to a videographer from Brilliant Monkey for test shots, said to be part of a planned film about the band. Little is known about the project, though speculation is that it’s for a planned documentary for their forthcoming album.

Latest news reports that Graham Hitchcock and Lauren Labinger will be the new permanent members of Redwood. Both musicians attended USC and graduated with music degrees. Their collective past experience is impressive to say the least. The new line-up fully rounds out Redwood and according to a friend of the band, they sound like they’ve been playing together for years. Look for them at the October shows!

San Jose based Redwood is reportedly planning sessions for its next studio release, due out sometime in ‘09.

Following the departure of former bassist Jason Shafton, the boys in Redwood appear to have found a new member. Rumor has it that they’ve settled on a two-for-one package bassist and female backing vocalist.

Former Groove Camp bassist Nate Pease has signed on to fill in on bass for the remainder of this Summer and possibly into the fall, as Redwood searches for a permanent replacement for Jason Shafton who left in mid July.
